Annual Water Forum
Great Lakes Commons Water Forum
Saturday, April 27, 2013 - 12:00 to 5:00pm
York Quay Centre, Lakeside Terrace
235 Queens Quay West (at Lower Simcoe Street)
$10 or PWYC
2013 marks our fourth annual water forum focusing on "The Great Lakes Commons" which reminds us that we must at all times remember that the City of Toronto is part of a larger community of bio-regional citizens. When we deal with issues regarding Toronto Water we must not lose sight of the need to support other groups and communities who are trying to protect Lake Ontario, the rivers in the region and of course the watersheds and aquifers that bring life to the region.
We are very excited this year to have our national spokesperson, Maude Barlow as our keynote speaker. In addition, our MC for the event is Alanna Mitchell, journalist and author of international bestseller Sea Sick: The Global Ocean in Crisis.
Other speakers include:
Ann Slater, President, National Farmers Union - Ontario
Alexa Bradley, Program Director, On the Commons
Mark Mattson, Great Lakes Waterkeeper
Sylvia Plain, Great Lakes Water Walker
Aliss Terpstra, International Institute of Concern for Public Health
Representatives from Rising Tide Toronto - Speaking on the threat of the Line 9 pipeline & our watersheds
* Please note that Queens Quay is under construction! Visit http://www.harbourfrontcentre.com/construction/ for construction updates.
